August Scholars was founded in the summer of 2008 with eight students in grades five and six, a Head Teacher and two Counselors. Last summer, the program had seven classrooms, seven Head Teachers, seven Head Counselors, seven Counselors, a Director, a Program Coordinator, and 85 students across grades three, four, five and six. Class size was between 12 and 14 students. Now, after ten years, our program is offered at two locations and is based on a strong curriculum tailored to each child’s “just right” level. The goal is to boost academic skills and to renew confidence and interest in scholastic success.
