On Sunday, April 29th, Flywheel at the Prudential Center will host a fun, 1-hour spinning class to benefit August Scholars.
August Scholars is a three-week, tuition-free summer program organized by The Learning Project Elementary School for students from lower-income families in Boston who are struggling in school. The program provides summertime academic support to allow these students, rising into grades three through six, to return to school with significant improvement in math, vocabulary, reading, and writing. August Scholars builds confidence in learning through small class sizes, a low student-to-teacher ratio, and tailored academic work to students’ “just right” levels. Students also partake in enrichment activities including music, art, technology, outdoor games and field trips to encourage positive attitudes about learning and to bring joy and laughter into the program.
Support from our August Scholars community has allowed us to offer this program completely free to all students accepted. We have provided much-needed academic assistance to hundreds of children over the past ten years, and could not do it without the generosity and kindness of individuals who believe in our mission.
Please consider joining us at Spinning for Scholars, and help to enroll another group of Scholars this summer. Your support will provide these children with the opportunity to enter their next school year with improved knowledge and skills, and belief in their own competence to sustain their growth.
